Cathy’s membership in APRA International and Mo-Kan began in 2002 when she volunteered to be the Regional Rep for St.
Louis. “It was a good way to get acquainted with other members,” she says, “and they never fail to help answer
my questions and share new insights.”  Since then, she’s been elected to serve on Mo-Kan’s board as Membership Director,
Vice President and President.

Cathy joined the Saint Louis Art Museum as Prospect Research Manager in 2006. Following the success of the Museum’s $145
million capital campaign, she is currently responsible for data analysis, prospect management and research. She brings more
than 15 years of non-profit fundraising experience to her current position.

Prior to her tenure at the Art Museum, Cathy was with Ranken Technical College for
five years.  As Coordinator of Research and Records, she researched prospective donors for Ranken’s $10 million Centennial
campaign.  In addition, she managed periodic prospect review sessions, created dynamic mail lists for campus-wide and
off-campus mailings, oversaw the donor database and supervised the position of Records Specialist.

Cathy is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned a BA degree with dual majors in Journalism and
English.  She has a lifetime teaching certificate and also earned certification from the National Institute of Planned Giving at
the College of William and Mary.

Rachel N. Smith

Rachel began her journey in the advancement world in 1998 when her alma mater, Ottawa University, asked if she would be
interested in serving as the Director of Annual Giving.  After six years of raising unrestricted support, she thought that
prospect research and moves management might be a new challenge worth trying.  Now seven years later, she still serves as
the Development Resources Coordinator for Ottawa University.  Rachel received her B.A. in Business Administration from
Ottawa University in 1997 and also received her Certificate in Fund Raising Management through the Center on Philanthropy
in Indianapolis, Indiana.     

Rachel is married to Wendell, who is the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach and the Assistant Head Football Coach for
Ottawa University.  They have two children Westen, 11 and Erin, 7.  Any free moment is spent with her family.

Christy Wineland

Christy can be found riding the trials and triumphs of the success of her alma mater, University of Missouri-Kansas City, new
Foundation.  As a two year veteran at UMKC, Christy enjoys reading and implementing creative and off-beat ideas in relation
to prospect research, fund raising and
data-mining has become a passion.  

Since 2005, Christy has been a member of APRA MO-KAN and APRA International.  She has attended numerous on-line
seminars, local and national conferences.  She is also serves on a subcommittee of the Council of Philanthropy and is a
member of CASE.  Christy is also a conference speaker with past topics on communication with alumni with disabilities,
prospect profile research/comparison and ethics.  

Christy is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned a BS in criminal justice and english.  Being an
overachiever, she then went to Kansas City to complete her JD and MPA in Nonprofit Management at the same time.  
Although she is not actively practicing law, she is very popular among friends and co-workers who are chronic speeders.  
Christy also completed the Certificate in Fund Raising from the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership.

Linda Lang

Linda has been a prospect researcher and a member of APRA MO-KAN since 1998. She is currently senior development
research analyst at KU Endowment, where she supports fund raising for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School
of Pharmacy, and the Medical Center. She enjoys all aspects of her job and especially the thrill of finding great new
prospects for her constituencies.

Linda previously served as APRA MO-KAN treasurer and looks forward to the challenges of serving as professional
development director. She hopes that APRA MO-KAN members will feel free to contact her about their professional
development interests.

Linda has a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and previously worked as a research director/staff writer for a
weekly business newspaper in the Northwest. In her spare time, she indulges in her addiction to genealogical research.

Kelsey began working with the Concordia Seminary Development team in 2005.  In his first role, he served as an Administrative
Assistant, providing support to Gift Officers.  In 2006, he was promoted to a new role wherein he served as Assistant to the
Director of Gift Operations and to the Director of the Annual Fund.  In April 2008, he accepted his current role as the
Seminary’s first full-time Research Analyst.  That same year, he was awarded the Margaret Fuhry Scholarship from APRA
Missouri-Kansas.  As such, he attended the APRA International Conference where, not content to rest on his laurels, he
served as a volunteer.

Kelsey has been actively involved with APRA MO-KAN since 2008 and he joined the board as Professional Development
Director in 2010.

Lori Westermeier

Lori worked in her university library throughout her undergraduate and graduate years at Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale, and stumbled into her first development research job when a colleague pointed out a job listing for a research
position and said "They like library people."  After six years as a prospect researcher at SIU, she moved east and worked for
Johns Hopkins Institutions as a Senior Research Analyst, were she was responsible for prospecting projects for several areas
within Johns Hopkins Medicine.  She considers learning to drive on the Baltimore and DC beltways among her biggest
achievements while living in Maryland. After four years at Hopkins, she returned to the more traffic-friendly midwest and
took the position of Assistant Director of Development Research at Washington University, where her duties include
developing and overseeing the department's research liaison program.  In addition to her work at Washington University, Lori
has been involved with planning and as a participant in St. Louis area American Cancer Society Relay For Life events and
currently serves on the development committee for PROMO, Missouri’s statewide LGBT advocacy group.  Her 14+ years in
research have turned her into that person who can make the most casual of conversations into a reason to Google
something.  She lives with her partner, Amy, three cats, and a stinky pug in St. Louis City.

Rob Robbins

Rob has over 20 years of experience in prospect management, prospect research and development services.  He is currently
Director, Research and Development Services at Saint Louis University where he oversees a team of 17 professionals who
handle the University’s prospect management, prospect research, gift processing and database administration.  Prior to
assuming his current role in January 2012, Rob was Manager, Prospect Management and Research at the Saint Louis Zoo from
2008 to 2012 and Assistant Director, Corporate and Foundation Prospect Management Systems at Washington University from
2001 to 2008.  Rob is a graduate of The American University in Washington, DC where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in
Political Science.  A native Bostonian, Rob moved to the St. Louis area in 2001 and enjoys confusing the locals by providing
the name of his suburban Boston high school when asked the “St. Louis Question.”

Linda Doubenmier
Park University

Linda has been a member of the Park University family since 1996.  She has had the opportunity of serving the University in a
variety of positions in the Advancement Office.  She began as an administrative assistant to the vice president of University
Advancement and as an event coordinator.  She organized Park’s annual art fair, art@park, for ten years. In the fall of 2004,
she began her current position as a prospect researcher and coordinator of scholarship stewardship. Since 2004, Linda has
been a member of APRA International and APRA MO/KAN, and has attended local and national conferences.  

A native of Denver, she began her education at Metropolitan State College of Denver and continued it at Park University.  
Linda moved to Missouri in 1973.  Prior to joining Park University, Linda encountered a variety of occupations:  farmer,
antique store owner and office manager of an anesthesia supply company. She has been a Mary Kay director since 2001 and
enjoys enriching women’s lives!  She is married to Cecil, a ceramic artist, and has three children.  The family recently moved
to Columbia where they enjoy biking on the Katy Trail.

Pamela Smith

Pamela Smith is currently serving as the Director of Development Research at the University of Missouri.

She brings experience leading research at Save the Children and Seton Hall University, as well as heading Advancement
Services at Sacred Heart University.

For many years, she has been an active volunteer with APRA International, as well as served on the boards of the New
England Development Research Association and the New Jersey chapter of APRA, where she was president. During her
tenure, with the then APRA Delaware Valley chapter and the Prospect Researchers of Eastern Pennsylvania (now an APRA
chapter), the first multi-prospect research organization conference was held at Princeton University. She co-taught
research for an early online CASE series, as well as for AFP certification classes at Kean University.

She was an editor and writer for the Internet Prospector for 11 years, and has written for other publications. She has been
a speaker for APRA International, chapters of the AFP and other non-profit organizations.

Pamela is active in her community serving as incoming president of Friends of the Library, and board member of APRA
Missouri/Kansas, Altrusa, Columbia Chorale, as well as a member of Boonslick Kiwanis.

Becoming a part of APRA MO/KAN has helped Pamela learn more about the Midwest community of research. She hopes you
